CHICHIRICA (also known as Vinca rosea or as Madagascar periwinkle)

This is a shrub that has five-lobed flowers. It’s height ranges from 30 to 60 centimeters. It thrives in a sunny environment. (Mine are on our rooftop.)

This attracts butterflies and bees though it really doesn’t need those to propagate. It propagates from its own seeds so don’t be surprised if you find tiny seedlings sprouting from the ground wherever its flowers have fallen. Available in pink and white varieties. Buy

CROSSANDRA

Native to India, Africa, and Madagascar, this plant bears yellow-orange flowers that also attract butterflies and nectar-sucking insects.

This could be propagated by stem cuttings. It doesn’t like to stay under the sun for most of the day so you can place them near other taller plants or by the wall of your house.

Its petals’ orientation may make it look wilted, but its bright yellow color makes up for that just fine. Buy

BUSY LIZZIES

This plant gives out a brilliant splash of color.

It flourishes in partially shaded, moist areas and dislikes being under the sun all day. It flowers continuously whole year. They propagate through cuttings and seeds.

WHITE ANGEL

This angel produces pristine white two-centimeter flowers year round.

Some may confuse it with our equally pristine white Sampaguita but this flowering plant has darker green leaves that contrasts with its pure white blooms. Buy

EUPHORBIA

A relative of succulents and cacti, this flowering plant has thorns and gives out round-petaled flowers whose size depends on the plant’s age.

The younger the plant, the smaller are its frame and blooms.

Available in red, pink, peach, and pale yellow colored blooms. Buy
